Svalemåla – world-class pike fishing in southern Sweden in the heart of Blekinge’s archipelago

Just 300 meters from the coast with sea views over the beautiful old fishing village on Gyön – you are surrounded by Swedish countryside, close to walking and cycling trails, prime fishing locations and right in the middle of Blekinge’s archipelago.

This peaceful and tranquil setting with it’s unspoilt rocky coastline and sandy beach is ideal for sunbathing, swimming or walking. From the sauna and hot tub at the water’s edge, you have fantastic views over Järnavik’s archipelago.

Blekinge county is also known as the ‘Garden of Sweden’. Here between the winding country roads, lush pastures and beautiful coastline you can stay in one of our cottages and enjoy all that Svalemåla has to offer.

Rent a kayak, rent a cottage and/or camping equipment, explore the islands and skerries. Choose your own perfect island, put up your tent next to a nice beach and enjoy your own cooked meal while watching the sunset. Camping in the wild is permitted almost anywhere here.

Cottages 1-6

Cottage for 6 people. (4 recommended)

Size: 45 sqm
Beds: 6, two loft spaces with one double bed in each, one room with a double bed. (All beds can be separated or put together.)

The stairs to the two lofts are quite steep. Not suitable for elderly or smaller children.
Kitchen: Fridge/freezer,  stove with oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and cutlery and furnishings for 6 people.
Other facilities: Shower, toilet, washbasin, TV.  Covered outside porch area with garden furniture and charcoal grill.
Additional info: 300m to the sea. Parking space by the cottage. Shared washing machine/tumble dryer available for use at a service building.

Beds: 4, one loft with double bed (can be separated),  one room with a bunk bed where the lower bed is a bit wider, 120 cm.

The stair to the loft is quite steep. Not suitable for elderly or smaller children.

Kitchen: Fridge/freezer,  stove plate, microwave, coffee maker and cutlery and furnishings for 4 people.

Other facilities: Shower, toilet, washbasin, TV.  Outside porch area with garden furniture and charcoal grill.

Additional info: 300m to the sea. Parking space by the cottage. Shared washing machine/tumble dryer available for use at service building.

Cottage for 6 people.  

100 m from the sea. Enjoy the evening sunshine and the fantastic sea view over Järnavik’s bay towards Tjärö.

Size: 65 sqm

Beds: 6, one room with a double bed (can be separated), two rooms with a bunk bed in each.

Kitchen: Fridge/freezer, hob with extractor fan and oven, microwave, coffee maker , dishwasher and cutlery and furnishings for 6 people.

Other facilities: Shower, toilet, washbasin, TV and satellite dish with German channels, baby cot. Covered outside porch area with garden furniture and charcoal grill.

Additional info: 200m to the beach. Parking space by the cottage.

Boats, kayaks, fishing packages

13 boats for hire, all with modern, 4-stroke engines (9.8 hp or 15 hp). All boats are equipped with life jackets, paddles, anchor and sea charts.

We now also have three bigger, specially equipped for pike fishing, aluminium boats equipped with 15 hp Honda engine and a bow mounted Minn Kota motor with a remote I-Pilot and a sonar with GPS.

 

Price list:

Standard Boat 4.10 – 4.40 m, with 9.8 hp engine

4 Days up to one week 2850 SEK

Rent a portable Sonar kit for our standard boats, Helix 5 CIRP G2 with Internal GPS for 500 SEK/week.

Premium boat

Premium Boat Linder 445 aluminium with a 15 hp engine

Fully equipped sport fishing boat with GPS, sonar and a Minn Kota electric front motor with a remote, I-Pilote.

Kayaks

We offer two quality kayaks for pike fishing. With an “Old Town Predator 13” you will experience a fun and closer pike fishing in a kayak that combines good paddling characteristics while at the same time is stable enough to fish for the pike standing up.
It is a perfect fishing platform both in the inner and outer archipelago. When you hire a fishing kayak, paddle, life jacket, sea chart and a small anchor is included.

We now offer a 3 people weekend package: Thursday to Sunday or Sunday to Thursday:

  • 1 Premium boat Linder with sonar/gps and the Minn Kota in the front, with remote.
  • Accommodation for 3 guests in one of our 6 bed cottages
  • 1 evening access to our wood fired sauna by the beach
  • Final cleaning

Note that when you choose Thursday to Sunday, you have 3 full days with boat: Thursday morning until Saturday evening

If instead you choose Sunday to Thursday, you have 4 full days with boat: Sunday morning until Wednesday evening.

Fishing

Blekinge’s archipelago in the south of Sweden, is famous for its pike fishing. Here you can find plenty of large pike, often weighing around 10kg. Experience the sports fishing in Sweden’s southernmost archipelago.

Our guests return year after year – they appreciate the surroundings and accommodation just as much as the fishing. The varied coastline with it’s rock formations, shallow bays and deeper parts ensure you a wide range of fishing experiences.

If you bring your own boat, we offer access to a small ramp for launching the boat at the fishing camp site and we can always find you a place to park your trailer. We have a wood fired sauna and a hot tub by the beach wich you can enjoy after your day of pike fishing.

 

Fishing waters

Popular areas for pike fishing are Järnaviks bay and the surrounding waters including those around the islands Bjärnö, Tjärö and Tärnö as well as the islands and coastline around Eriksberg nature reserve and the Bräkneån estuary. Further out to sea you can fish for sea trout and cod. If you like fishing in strong flowing currents, you can try the rivers Bräkneån and Vierydsån only a few kilometers drive from cottages.

Seasons and pike fishing regulations

The best time for pike fishing in southern Sweden is from March–May and September–October, but you can fish pike here all year round.

To minimise the negative effect on the pike habitat we only allow Catch & Release. All pikes should be released back in to the water. If you want to keep a pike for food it’s strictly set to one pike per boat/day when you rent a boat from us.

Be aware that only pikes between 40-75cm is allowed to keep, according to the Swedish law.

Fishing in the Baltic sea is free in Sweden, you need no license.
