Norway offers excellent opportunities for both sea and freshwater fishing.
Sea fishing is very straightforward – no fishing licence is required for recreational fishing in fjords or at sea. However, a few basic regulations apply, such as keeping a safe distance from fish farms, respecting protected species, observing minimum size limits, and complying with the export limit of fish from Norway (maximum 15 kg of fish fillets per person).
Freshwater fishing in Norway’s crystal-clear lakes and rivers is particularly popular from May through late summer. To fish in freshwater, you must purchase a fishing permit from the holder of the fishing rights, usually the landowner. Permits are typically valid for a specific area and period, and prices vary depending on the fishery.
If you wish to fish for migratory species such as salmon, trout, or Arctic char, you must also pay an additional conservation fee and carry proof of payment while fishing.
All camps offered by us are officially registered tourist fishing businesses, allowing guests to export up to 15 kg of fish fillets per person.
