CAMP

The campsite is one of the best salmon spots not only in Verdalselva, but in the entire region.

It brings in loads of really big fish every season.

Welcome to the realm of big salmon

In the middle of this region you will find the peaceful rivers Verdalselva and Østnes, which will give you a complete experience of nature, real without stress and noise.

The stretch is widely known for its abundance of large salmon.

It is best from the beginning of June to the end of July. August can be good for slightly smaller fish, but you can still be lucky enough to see the power of a big salmon.

The sections are very suitable for fly fishing.

Anglers from many different countries come to the camp each year, some of whom have been regulars for many years.

SALMON FISHING

One of the main reasons why Atlantic salmon fishing here is so popular with anglers is the sheer amount of exclusive water available to anglers.

There are a limited number of fly anglers staying at the zone of the river (6 to 8 anglers per week) who have exclusive access to more than 4500 m of fishing on two banks.

The season runs from June to August, with the best and most productive period being from late June to late July. However, as with all fishing, the sport is often heavily dictated by weather and river conditions.

RIVER

The pace is very varied, with large rocks, deep pools, calm areas, rapids and a waterfall.

We can also find the section of Blåmelhølen here. This stretch is a safe bet as it has been producing big salmon around 20kg for generations. A very varied place with big rocks, deep pools, calm areas and rapids.

You have both sides of the river here. The upper part works great both at low and high water levels.

There is also a cabin at your disposal on the legendary “Blåmelhølen”. This is the only cottage in the area so there are no neighbors.

ACCOMMODATIONS

The cabins are cosy, comfortable and only a few meters from the river and the Østnesfossen waterfall which offers some of the best salmon fishing in the stretch. In fact, the cabins are within walking distance of all areas on the river and even the local store and fast food.

RULES regarding disinfection for all Verdalselva users

Of course, the camp offers disinfection for everyone. It is extremely important that all users of Verdalselv carefully follow the rules regarding disinfection.

You must disinfect all fishing equipment before starting any fishing in the river.

This is important to prevent transmission of the deadly parasite Gyrodactylus salaris. Gyro dies in salt water, but can survive on wet fishing equipment (jacket, flies, canoes, lures, plastic bags, waders, etc.) for many days.

It is therefore extremely important that you, as a responsible angler and everyone else involved in water sports in the Verdal River, disinfect your gear every time you change river.

You are responsible for your equipment and any infections you may bring with you, so please keep the following in mind:

  • Do not move fish between streams and rivers.
  • Do not wash or gut the fish anywhere other than where you caught it.
  • Do not pour water into other waterways than where you collected it (water bottles, etc.).
  • Disinfect all fishing equipment before use.
  • Boats, kayaks, canoes and more must also be disinfected or completely dried before moving.

There are a number of disinfection stations along the Verdalselva River. Here you can disinfect fishing equipment (think bait boxes and fly rods, landing nets and other things that have been in contact with water in other waterways). Disinfection takes place with Virkon-S in a 1% solution. This will not damage clothing or fishing equipment.

Without a fishing fee and confirmation of disinfection, the fishing license is not valid.

A fee may be charged for violation of the regulations according to the current fishing regulations on the water course.
