FISHING ON RIO EBRO

Legendary dams on the Rio Ebro.

Rio-Ebro is a river more than 900 km long and the most famous sections on it are two famous dams between the regions of Aragon and Catalonia.

The upper dam of the Embalse de Mequinenza with more than 100 kilometers, its depth reaches in places up to 60 meters and widths from tens to hundreds of meters. Due to the easier availability of fishing spots on its shores, it has often suffered from too much fishing pressure in recent years, and its tens of square kilometers make it difficult to find a good place to fish, both on shore and on board. A huge disadvantage is the unstable water level of this dam.

The lower dam Embalse de Riba Roja, where the camp is located, is a place with a long tradition popular with hundreds of fishermen from all over Europe. Riba Roja is about 40 kilometers long, its depths range from shallow shoals to about 30 meters, the width is usually up to several hundred meters. This dam is older and warmer than the upper dam and if you are looking for fishing in unspoiled nature and tranquility or really trophy catches, then you must come here. It was created by flooding the valley with extensive orchards and forests, which were not cut down before the flood, and thus created a place for the fish, which is their perfect refuge with many natural shelters. But it is even more complicated for fishermen.

Thanks to the perfect background of the camp, the experience of the staff and the really hard to believe number of fish in the dam, fishing with this dam will become an unforgettable experience for a lifetime with a little luck.

FISH ON RIO EBRO

Carp
Fish usually reach a length of over a meter and weigh well over 20 kg.

Cat-fish
Ebro is a famous water for trophy catfish fishing. There are not many other places in Europe where you can catch larger pieces, but in terms of the amount of monster catches with a length of well over 2 meters, the dams on the river Ebro are a clear number one. A unique advantage in the camp is the possibility to legally catch live bait fish!

Zander
Is the target fish for thousands of anglers who come to the Ebro from all over Europe to enjoy a fantastic time hunting this predator. Although for many fishermen the Rio Ebro is more associated with catfish fishing, the reality is that zanders are caught much more here. Catches of capital pieces even over 80 cm are not an exception here! And if you’re a little lucky, you can catch a lot of zander in a single day.

Perch
In recent years, they have wished for the condition of perch. The population of these beauties has multiplied here and the fish are growing to shocking sizes. The sections of the dam around the camp, where there are many sunken trees and other natural shelters, are considered one of the best perch places on the Riba Roja ever.

Black Bass
This is a highly prized fish for sports, a predatory fighter that can offer a lot of fun and experiences, especially during the summer heat, when other fish are not very active. The long reed fields along the banks near our campsite are renowned bass spots, some of the best in the entire Riba Roja Dam.

Tuna
Possibility of arranging a trip for tuna fishing.

Fishing at the campsite also brings with it the benefits of Catalan fishing rules. Unlike Aragon, you can fish for live bait here. You don’t have to interrupt your fishing until dawn after dark, because you can fish 24 hours a day and you can also camp right on the shore of the dam.

BOATS

Aluminum boats with powerful and reliable engines

The boats are equipped with powerful Yamaha engines with a power of 15HP, so you can use them without a license to drive watercraft.

TRACKER Boat

There are also two a five-meter ships Tracker with a very powerful Yamaha engines with an output of 50HP, equipped with a bow electric motors controlled by a pedal and a Garmin echo sounders.

However, you can only use this if you are the owner of a small vessel captain.

The boat is fitted with a powerful Yamaha 15HP engine.

• LUGAFO 2

A reliable 4.6 meter aluminum boat with a flat bottom, built-in fixed seats with covered storage. The boat is equipped with a MinnKota electric bow motor with pedal control and a Lowrance sonar. It is suitable for catfish fishing, spinning, loading lures and baits and fast movements around the dam. The additional equipment of the boat is racks for rods, paddles, life jackets, an anchor and a first aid kit. If you wish, you can supplement the large petrol tank with another reserve tank.

The boat is fitted with a powerful Yamaha 15HP engine.

LURE Boat

A reliable, wide and stable boat of more than five meters. A very fast boat thanks to the fitted powerful Mercury 40HP engine. The main advantage of the equipment and its pride is the high-quality Garmin Echomap sonar with the Panoptix LiveScope system with live display. In her equipment, you will find both built-in comfortable folding chairs at the back and two elevated seats at the back and front, from which you can easily and simply remotely control the powerful bow electric motor MotorGuide, both of which offer great comfort when catching a spinner.

Also worth noting is the amount of voluminous covered storage space, a flow-through bait fish tank that is fitted with a fresh water pump, rod racks, paddles, life jackets, an anchor and a first aid kit. If you wish, you can supplement the large petrol tank with another reserve tank.

Due to the power of the engine, a license is required to drive this boat.
