Since 2008, the fishing village has been in private ownership, and after extensive reconstruction, the entire area of 15 hectares took on a new look.

During the 2020, 7 cozy and luxurious Villas were completed and original Villa Holm 1, had a total makeover. Cottage Holm 2 and 6 Summer cottages or campsites had some facelift as well.

Merikoivula has its own marina with motorboats for hire, and after a successful fishing trip, the catch can be gutted at the marina’s clearing tables and BBQ hut.

If you have your own boat, you will find a concrete ramp next to the dock. The price of renting a boat includes a fuel tank. Guided fishing is also available.

Smokehouses and an LPG grill for preparing fish are available in the barbecue hut. On the terrace of each villa you will find an amazing Kamado Joe grill.

There are also two saunas – a sauna for 15 people and a six-person coastal sauna Holm.

The meeting room can accommodate a maximum of 60 people and the entire village can accommodate 100 people.

A total of 56 people can be accommodated in 7 new villas.

FISHING

Fishing in Finland in the Turku Archipelago takes you away from everyday life and at the same time offers captivating entertainment and the opportunity to enjoy nature.

The archipelago is Europe’s largest and the world’s most beautiful, very popular fishing area.

Fishing can be well combined with a family vacation. Boating, cycling, horse riding and of course saunas.

There are 8 villas and 7 cottages, and boat rentals are only available for staying guests.

The main fish that can be caught is pike, but there are also perch, pikeperch, whitefish, bream and salmon. The sea around the archipelago is one of the best areas for perch in Finland and perch of 300-500 grams are quite common, and there are also larger ones. An ordinary pike weighs less than a kilogram, but the best places have the possibility of multi-kilogram pike.

In the spring, after the ice has receded, whitefish fishing from the strait and sandy bottom is an interesting form of capture.

According to the laws of the Republic of Finland, a national fishing permit must be purchased before fishing, but it is easy. Fishing rules – PIKE

• Fishing is generally done on a Catch and Release basis.
• One fisherman can bring ashore up to two pike a day.
• An injured fish (eg a hook injures the gills and blood oozes) can be taken ashore.
• Pike over 3.5 kg must be released.
• The fish are cleaned on the cleaning table near the shelter.
• The fish guts are placed in the fish box and taken to the sea as soon as possible to avoid seagulls.
• You need to clean the fish cleaning area.

BOATS

Merikoivula offers a great opportunity for fishing. The marina has a boat rental as well as plenty of moorings and a concrete ramp for launching your own boat.

For rent:

4 larger boats Tuna (422cc aluminum, GPS, sounder, 20 hp Mercury engine): Full day charter €265, half day €160 (deposit €200).

The Tuna motorboat seats four, but can safely accommodate two active anglers.

4 smaller Kasse (plastic, 4 hp Mercury engine): Full day rental €140, half day €85 (deposit €100)

6 rowing boats: €0.10/day

The price of renting a motorboat includes 10 or 5 liters of fuel.

Due to the challenging rocky seabed, motorboats are intended for experienced paddlers.

To make fishing in the archipelago easy, you should familiarize yourself with the local fishing rules.

There are also saunas and dryers for drying clothes. On the terrace of the villa you will find the wonderful Kamado Joe grill. After successful fishing, the catch can be cleaned at the cleaning tables in the harbor. In the barbecue room you will find two LPG grills and two smokehouses.

*You can reach restaurants in Uusikaupunki or Kustavi by boat. The world famous Roundtrip Archipelago and Moominworld are only an hour’s drive away.

HOT TUBE ON WHEELS

The hot tub for six people with a diameter of 1.5 meters is located on a trailer and can be ordered next to the sauna of your villa or cottage. In winter, the hot tub can only be used together with the sauna.

The hot tub rental costs €200 for one day, €300 for two days.

The price includes filling and firewood. It can take up to three hours to warm up.

Saunas and hot tubs in Finland are a must!

From spring to autumn it is possible to order a hot tub, suitable for six people, next to the villa or cottage!

Saunas are mostly located by the sea, at a certain distance from the villas and from each other. The hot tub is located on a trailer and can be ordered next to your villa or cottage.

ANOTHER ACTIVITIES:

Two freshly Set & Match acrylic coated tennis courts surrounded by a fence. In addition, football and volleyball fields, children’s playgrounds and fitness fields.

In the shed on the edge of the courts, you will find everything you need – tennis rackets, various balls and other sports equipment.
