Fishing holidays for catfish, zander and carp in Riba Roja D’Ebre

The riverside villa is located in Riba Roja d’Ebre – 100 meters from the famous river Ebro – the best place for a Spanish holiday with catfish, zander and carp.

Ideal for families, individual anglers and larger groups.
The operators provide everything from boat hire, guides and licences.
If you are new to the area then the guide’s knowledge of the river and fish is second to none. Tell the guide the fish you would like to target and he will try his best to get you the fish of your dreams.

Accommodations

The property consists of a main villa and in addition to the villa there are also four apartments on the premises – all for rent. The villa and apartments have been stylishly renovated to the highest standards, offering you a homely feel.

Perfect location with spectacular mountain views, right on the banks of the Ebro river, just a short walk to the village of Riba Roja D’Ebre and a 45 minute drive to the coast (Costa Daurada).

All accommodation is equipped with air conditioning units and is located in its own private grounds with 24-hour access to the River Ebro. It is completely fenced for complete privacy, surrounded by olive trees and offers peace and quiet.

There is a grill and a private pool (which is for guests only) with plenty of lounge chairs.

There are plenty of very good bars and restaurants in the area, offering fantastic traditional Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine at reasonable prices.

For larger purchases, BON PREU supermarkets – 10 min drive from the villa.
(Has everything from everyday produce to the best seafood, meat, fruit, etc.)

There are also many other shops with local Spanish products in the village of Riba Roja.

Apartments

For larger groups, 4 more apartments are available. It is possible to book the apartments together with the villa as they are very close, so family and friends can enjoy time together in the villa, barbecue and pool.

Fishing

Catfishing

The villa is located just 100 meters from a wild 18 km stretch of the Ebro river where 24-hour catfish fishing is allowed. This stretch of river consistently produces 100lb, or more commonly 200lb catfish.

Private fishing is available if you wish to fish without a guide, but to get the most out of your trip they recommend a professional guide.

Alternatively, you can hire a boat if you prefer a self-guided fishing holiday.

Here you have the flexibility to fish where and when you want and try new places or methods.

Most catfishing is done from a boat, such as trolling and drift fishing.

For those who prefer to fish from the shore, there is the option of private shores. Pellets are very popular baits for carp and catfish for this style of fishing.

All tackle including poles, bivvy, chairs etc can be provided.

Zander fishing

Zander fishing is very popular on the Ebro River as it catch 10kg+ (22lb+) predators.

They are biting on artificial baits (soft baits, wobblers work very well), dead baits and live baits.

The best time of year is the cooler months (November, December, January and February).

Black bass fishing

Another fantastic fish is the black bass, which can be caught in a variety of ways. Spinning and fly fishing are the best options using streamers, soft baits, poppers etc. The largest bass can grow up to 60cm and are fantastic sport fish.

Carp fishing

The River Ebro is also stocked with plenty of big heavy fighting carp (40lb+ and 50lb+).

Simple rigs work best as most carp have never been fished before. Although boilies work, we recommend fishing with old-fashioned baits: corn, halibut pellets, etc…

Fishing licenses are always required when fishing in Spain. These are available to buy in the local village, you can order them online or if you prefer the camp operators can arrange a license for you before you arrive. They are valid for anywhere from one day to four years, depending on how much you want to pay. Please note that each region requires its own license.

Boats

Large, well-made and very stable (flat floor) – specially adapted for fishing on the Ebro river and providing you with safety when fishing on a wild river. They are also fully insured and equipped for 2-3 people. Electric guide motors and fish sonar are also available for rent for more demanding fishermen.

Zaragoza Airport is another alternative. The driving time is approximately the same as from Barcelona, and flights to this airport are sometimes cheaper.
